Have you tried turning them off and on again?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That might sound like a stock answer from your office\u2019s IT helpdesk, but resetting your buds to their factory settings can solve a lot of bugs, including some charging issues, plus you\u2019ll want to do it if you\u2019re planning to sell them.<\/p>\n<p>Resetting your AirPods only takes a couple of minutes and after you\u2019ve done it they\u2019ll act as if they\u2019re brand new, so you can either pass them on to their new owner or set them up again and get back to listening to your favourite playlists and podcasts.<\/p>\n<p>Read on to find out how it\u2019s done.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-we-used\">What we used<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trustedreviews.com\/reviews\/iphone-12-pro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">iPhone 12 Pro<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trustedreviews.com\/reviews\/apple-airpods-pro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AirPods Pro<\/a> (process is identical if you\u2019re using a standard pair of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trustedreviews.com\/reviews\/apple-airpods-3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AirPods<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"the-short-version\">The short version<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the lid of the case<\/li>\n<li>Tap the \u2018i\u2019 icon next to your AirPods in the Bluetooth menu<\/li>\n<li>Tap \u2018Forget This Device\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Hold the button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<section class=\"block block-mobile-ad block-mobile-ad-double\" style=\"height: 620px\">\n<div class=\"ad-label\" style=\"height: 20px\">\n        Advertisement    <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-inner\" id=\"ad_mobile-in-article_1\"><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"block video-player\"><\/section>\n<div class=\"schema-how-to wp-block-yoast-how-to-block\">\n<ol class=\"schema-how-to-steps \">\n<li class=\"schema-how-to-step\" id=\"how-to-step-1649767050702\">\n<div class=\"steps\">\n<h3 class=\"step-name\">Step  1.<\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"schema-how-to-step-name\">Put the AirPods in the case<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<p><img class=\"lazy lazy-hidden\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.trustedreviews.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/a3-lazy-load\/assets\/images\/lazy_placeholder.gif\" data-lazy-type=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.trustedreviews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2022\/04\/How-to-reset-Apple-AirPods-Step-1.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"schema-how-to-step-text\">Close the lid and wait at least 30 seconds. When your 30 seconds is up, reopen the lid and put the case to one side. Make sure the lid doesn\u2019t accidentally close.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"schema-how-to-step\" id=\"how-to-step-1649767075540\">\n<div class=\"steps\">\n<h3 class=\"step-name\">Step  2.<\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"schema-how-to-step-name\">Open the Settings menu on your iPhone or iPad<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<p><img class=\"lazy lazy-hidden\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.trustedreviews.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/a3-lazy-load\/assets\/images\/lazy_placeholder.gif\" data-lazy-type=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.trustedreviews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2022\/04\/How-to-reset-Apple-AirPods-Step-2.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"schema-how-to-step-text\">Now choose the Bluetooth option, which shows all the devices that you\u2019ve previously connected. Your AirPods will be listed here, probably with your name in front of them. Select the circular, blue \u2018i\u2019 icon next to their name and another menu will pop up.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"schema-how-to-step\" id=\"how-to-step-1649767086566\">\n<div class=\"steps\">\n<h3 class=\"step-name\">Step  3.<\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"schema-how-to-step-name\">Choose Forget This Device<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<p><img class=\"lazy lazy-hidden\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.trustedreviews.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/a3-lazy-load\/assets\/images\/lazy_placeholder.gif\" data-lazy-type=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.trustedreviews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2022\/04\/How-to-reset-Apple-AirPods-Step-3.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"schema-how-to-step-text\">This menu allows you to change the noise-cancelling mode, customise the controls and much more, but if you scroll right to the bottom you\u2019ll see an option to \u2018Forget This Device\u2019. Press this and another confirmatory box will pop up with \u2018Forget Device\u2019 written in red. Select this to confirm. With the lid of the case still open, hold this button down for 15 seconds, until the status light flashes amber and then white.
