X owner Elon Musk has been using public tweets to train its Grok artificial intellignce tool, but you don\u2019t have to let him. Here\u2019s how to prevent your tweets being harvested.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A new default setting on X has revealed that the social network formerly known as Twitter has been training its Grok AI tool using your posts and interactions, without your explicit content.<\/p>\n

Delving into the settings, you\u2019ll see \u201cprivacy and security\u201d menu and a section devoted to Grok. Here you\u2019ll find a tickbox that\u2019s automatically ticked.<\/p>\n

It reads: \u201cAllow your posts as well as your interactions, inputs, and results with Grok to be used for training and fine-tuning\u201d. It goes on to say: \u201cThis also means that your interactions, inputs, and results may also be shared with our service provider xAI for these purposes.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s quite crafty really, isn\u2019t it? But it\u2019s very much in keeping with the way all AI models have been trained throughout the last few years, with little public knowledge of the matter.<\/p>\n

Given the owner of this one though, it\u2019s quite possible Grok will have some serious right wing leanings, rather than some altruistic personality that cares only for the best interests of mankind.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, there is a way to turn the Grok-feeding off without deleting your Twitter account.<\/p>\n

  • A desktop web browser and an X account<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • Open the X.com in your desktop browser<\/li>\n
    • Tap More from the side menu<\/li>\n
    • Tap Settings and Privacy<\/li>\n
    • Tap Privacy and Safety<\/li>\n
    • Tap Grok from the \u201cdata sharing and personalization\u201d menu<\/li>\n
    • Turn off the Data Sharing tick box.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
